Senate Candidate Spends Holiday Volunteering

Jim Neal, Candidate for U.S. Senate, plays Santa Claus; volunteers to help less fortunate

CHAPEL HILL - Christmas is the time for giving, and Jim Neal, candidate for U.S. Senate, is giving his time this Christmas helping the less fortunate among us in communities across North Carolina.

Jim Neal is spending time with families whose children are being treated in local hospitals. Since 1980, the Ronald McDonald House of Durham has provided shelter to more than 20,000 families, coming from every county in North Carolina, 43 other states, and nine foreign countries.

Jim Neal is helping to serve lunch and dinner. Founded in 1938, the Charlotte Rescue Mission reaches out to the homeless, and to those battling addictions. The mission also provides an intensive drug and alcohol recovery program to men and women who are homeless or about to become homeless.

Jim Neal has been traveling across North Carolina since he announced his candidacy in October. Born and raised in Greensboro, Neal received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his Masters Degree from the University of Chicago.  He and his youngest son Winston live in Chapel Hill, NC.
